What I'm Reading

"History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time. "

Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.

If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate

Pure ~ Jennifer L. Armentrout Review

Pure
by: Jennifer L. Armentrout

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

As I stated before… This book seriously gives me heart palpitations…. but then again so do the following books. But still.

It's a great book and it ultimately sets up ( and when rereading clears up) the many twists and turns soon to come in the storyline.

In this book:

Alex - At times I wanted to throttle her, other times I just wanted to give her a hug, and there were a few times that I was ready to fight for her.

Aiden -  I love me some Aiden St. Delphi but I was seriously tempted to take a knee to him a few times ( not that the hit would make it) for some of his words and actions.

Seth - Oh you know, he's still the same old Seth. Still not sure if he's team good guy or bad guy. The difference in this book is I always find myself starting to not care what team he's on because he's clearly team Alex/himself. When he's with her there's this whole other side that i quickly find myself crushing on. Every. Single. Time.

Ok glad that the heart wrenching and palpitation giving book is over. Now the plot deepens.

Pure Quotes

"Pure-bloods were off-limits to us halfs, which meant what had gone down between us was tantamount to feeling up the Pope or offering Gandhi a roast beef sandwich."

"Seth remained still for a minute, maybe two. Then he moved his arm down, circling my waist, pulling me closer. My body fit against his, my hand resting on his chest. Under my palm, his heart hammered as wildly as mine."

"He clapped his hands together, letting out a rather high-pitched squeal before grabbing my hand. “Oh, we are going to have so much fun! Aren’t we? Fun, Alex— we will have fun.” "

Honestly I didn't highlight much because I got sucked in, as usual, I couldn't even stop.

What I'm Reading

There is need. And then there is Fate. Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome--especially when Alexandria's other half is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom--so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do--and sacrifice--for her. When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies--lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon--and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude--or killing her. When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.

This book gives me heart palpations….. but still:

Half-Blood ~ Jennifer L. Armentrout Review

Half-Blood
by: Jennifer L. Armentrout

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Definitely 5 out of 5 stars!

I have reread this book, uhhh I lost count of how many times, time and time again and it still hasn't got old.

I always find something that sticks out more every single time.

Alex- Hot head who's passionate

Aiden - *wipes drool* I can't even describe him just . . . read the book and you'll understand

Seth - the sexy mofo who you're not sure if he's team protagonist or antagonist

There's so many more characters that were great to read but those mentioned above are always the main three.

In this book Alex has a lot of lessons to learn, and boy does she start to learn them. She honestly never catches a break, but you see it building and molding her character at the very least. Certain situations she is put in or must face really connects you with her and takes you from being annoyed with her to Team Alex.

This book holds action, romance, mystery, horror, tragedy, and comedy. (i love books like this)

So there's honestly something for everybody.

I definitely recommend it, any time, any place, read it!

FlashBack Friday

Those of us who fell in love with  Drogo and his Khaleessi from game of thrones season 1, this one is for us.

Meet Circe

(looks just like our Khaleesi, huh?)

Circe has woken up in a alternate universe where hardly anyone speaks her language. Oh and did I mention she's in a corral with several other women about to participate in the wife hunt of the Korwahk nation?

Now, meet Dax (King) Lahn :

(he looks familiar too)

He's self explanatory; However I will say he's never chosen to participate in the Wife hunt, however one glimpse of Circe's blonde hair and he ready to put his chain on her collar. . . literally.

Ok y'all just like Drogo and Dannie this story started out rough. Like I-don't-know-if-I-can-read-this-anymore rough. But it quickly turns into an ok-they're-going-to-work-this-out rough and then the story goes deeper and I couldn't put it down. It's one of my favorite books guys.

there is definitely moments of:

BUT there is so much more than that…like hmm idk for example a HEA.

Okay. what I'm really trying to say is : GO read it and see for yourself!!!

Half- Blood Quotes

"All truths come down to love, do they not? One way or another, they do."

"The steady beat of his heart under my cheek warmed and comforted me. It was just a hug, but gods, it meant so much. It meant everything."

"You don't have anything to worry about, Alex. I'm not going to let anything happen to you."

What I'm Reading

The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi pure bloods have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals--well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck

Daimon ~ Jennifer L. Armentrout Review

Daimon
by: Jennifer L. Armentrout

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The way this book sets up the next one is beautiful, you rarely see it done this way.

I love how we Daimon gives the back story to where Alex is emotionally, mentally, and physically when we first meet her in Half-blood.

I also loved the glimpse of her life readers see pre-tragedy.

(And because it deals with greek mythology I don't see me saying that there is a tragedy as a spoiler, i'm just saying.)

Our main character is Alex and she's strong. Strong willed, strong tempered, head strong, but not least emotionally and physically strong.

In this book something so precious is ripped away from her and her strength is tested time and time again. She is hunted. She's strong, she survives.

And now we move on to Half-Blood.

Daimon quotes

Just some quotes from Daimon by Jennifer L. Armentrout for you:

“She’s nothing more than a pathetic, little half-blood,” the ancient woman had continued. “I say send her to the Masters. I’m in need of a little girl to clean my toilets.”
Then she had twisted her fingers cruelly.
And I had kicked her shin." (kinlde: Location 47)

"Even now, I wanted to spin-kick myself in my face for that one. I was like a walking romance novel character, thinking love conquers everything and all that crap. Sure. Love in my world usually ended up with someone hearing “I smite thee!” as she was cursed to be some lame flower for the rest of her life." (kindle: Location 78)

"Pures were so off limits to halfs like me." (kindle: Location 83)

"Here I was, three years later, and chipping paint reminded me of his eyes. That was so lame it was embarrassing." (kindle: Location 440)

What I'm Reading

"Love in my world usually ended up with someone hearing 'I smite thee!' as she was cursed to be some lame flower for the rest of her life."For three years, Alexandria has lived among mortals--pretending to be like them and trying to forget the duty she'd been trained to fulfill as a child of a mortal and a demigod. At seventeen, she's pretty much accepted that she's a freak by mortal standards... and that she'll never be prepared for that duty.According to her mother, that's a good thing. But as every descendant of the gods knows, Fate has a way of rearing her ugly head. A horrifying attack forces Alex to flee Miami and try to find her way back to the very place her mother had warned her she should never return-the Covenant. Every step that brings her closer to safety is one more step toward death... because she's being hunted by the very creatures she'd once trained to kill. The daimons have found her.

Guys…

I really am so freaking excited about rereading this series. I get to fall in love with the characters all over again, laugh, cry, cuss and then apologize, and so much more. But I'm super stoked that this time I'm sharing it with you all!

Eeeeep!

Okay Okay!

Here I go!

Make Me ~ Amanda Heath Review

Make Me
by: Amanda Heath

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Four stars for Make Me

The only reason I won't give it five stars is because, like many other awesome books I've read, I felt that the way things were wrapped up left me with never to be answered questions.

Which kind of sucks.

But other than that this book was an awesome read.

The relationship was beyond cute and sometimes downright irritating as well.

Who doesn't love that?

If you don't, well to each his (her) own!

I'd recommend Make Me if you're looking for a high school romance/young adult book.

Jaded ~ Tijan Review

Jaded
by:Tijan

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book was so good.

Guys…

I was all in my feelings throughout this book.

Tijan certainly outdid herself with this one.

What I expected from this book was:

 and

Oh but I got so much more than what I bargained for instead I got:

3 bestfriends, 2 guys 1 girl, who rule the school and look out for each other. Throw in a crazy stalker who is killing and WHAMO you've got Am hooked.

Can I just reiterate that Tijan really did her thing with this book.

The storyline was great and all the elements of the story really came together to give the reader (that's me!) an awesome experience.

I immediately moved on to the sequel.

A Bookworm's Confessions

So….

I haven't blogged much within the last few days, but I've been reading. Boy oh boy have I been reading. And every last book on this list was made with the stuff that makes a book nerd. :)

Here's the list:

Sheldon doesn't care about anyone except Corrigan and Bryce. The three of them rule their school, but it seems someone else wants in on the action. Or that someone else just wants Sheldon, but how many bodies is enough to prove their love to her?

Sheldon, Bryce, and Corrigan ruled their school until a killer wanted to rule them. Three years later, Bryce’s back home from Europe the local celebrity jock. Corrigan’s busy running his fraternity and Sheldon's about to be pulled back into the social world of drama. With the killer killed, who's trying to hurt Sheldon this time? Or maybe it's someone closer than she wants to admit?

“Make me, Channing. Make me fall. Push me, shove me, just make sure I get there.” I shout at him, taking a step back. His eyes clash with mine. I read the challenge there, making me take another step back.
He stalks the few steps to me and grabs my arms slamming his forehead down on mine, “I’ll make you.” His lips skim against mine as he continues to speak, “And I’ll be falling right there with you.”

Paisley Vaughn grew up on the wrong side of the tracks. After finding her mother dead from an overdose, Paisley and her baby sister are shipped off to live with her maternal grandparents.

She always knew they were rich, she just didn’t realize how rich they were. Now she’s being forced to go to a prestigious high school. One where the tuition is more money then she’s ever seen.

Thinking these rich kids are going to be snobbish and rude, she’s surprised to find the Vaughn name means she is untouchable. Well unless your name is Channing Southerland.

Paisley has to navigate her new life and all the new people in it. While her mother might have lied about her grandparents, no one is lying about Channing. He’s beautiful, mean, arrogant, and turning her on.

Before long a war is fought, leaving Paisley wondering if she’ll be ruined or made. Though she might just fall irrevocably in love.

Gripping my chest is the only way to hold myself together or what’s left of me will fall out. The past week has enlightened me on one thing-I don’t care.
Megan, Mobster’s Girl
I didn’t even hesitate. I took two strides and blasted him in the face with my fist. He was ready for it this time-unlike in church. He tried to hit me back but I ducked and smashed him again.
Antonio, Mobster’s Girl
You can’t help what family you’re born into or what lies they keep from you. You can’t help it if they mold and shape you just the way they wanted. Are monsters born or made?
Antonio and Megan have a timeless issue. They were told to stay away from each other. They try, they really do. But they are drawn to each other.
Antonio is eighteen and the up and coming mob boss of Palmetto, New Jersey. Megan is a girl uprooted from the grassy plains of Ireland at the age of five. Now she’s seventeen and faced with horrors she never thought existed.

A breathtakingly beautiful man is standing right next to me-holding me, reassuring me, protecting me. Antonio is my savior. Having him with me makes the ickiness that’s stuck in my stomach tolerable.

Megan, Awakening the Mobster

Loving Megan and caring for Erin like the sister I never had is dangerous. These feelings cause you to think. But I was raised, Don’t think, just do!

Antonio, Awakening the Mobster

What draws and binds people together-circumstance, experience, blood? Can you change what you’re made of or is it predestined? If you fight it, will it just come back to you ten-fold?

Antonio and Megan are running. Running away. Megan’s father told them to. Antonio and Megan fly to South Bend, Indiana. They are hiding out at Notre Dame until it’s safe to come home. But will it ever be safe with the line of work Antonio and Megan’s father do. There is no escaping the mob. It’s part of your existence.

Mobster's Vendetta (Mobster #3) by Amy Rachiele
My soul was drawn to him. It isn’t about the danger or his dark beauty, it’s the connection I feel – the feeling of home I have with him even though I am miles away from it.

Megan, Mobster’s Vendetta

The mob underworld never changes. It hides itself deep in the cities. The rules, people, and danger are identical no matter where you go. Sometimes I wish things were different, but they're not.

Antonio, Mobster’s Vendetta

Antonio and Megan have had to overcome severe challenges in the short time they have been together. Things just happen that way sometimes. Circumstance has kept them apart, but their biggest challenge is yet to come.

Power, greed, and malice can crush a person from the inside out.

Antonio and Megan are in Chicago. Antonio needs to take care of business.

Business that includes taking down his Uncle - for good.

Vito has grown up in the underworld of the mob. He has recently reached age eighteen. His family has been involved since the thirties. In 2014, the rules haven’t changed much. What worked then, works now; power, violence, and loyalty.

Love isn’t something you can control. As much as Vito, mobster enforcer, wish he could, he can’t. And falling in love with someone who is close to jailbait age is even tougher. Vito bides his time and waits. For a hasty guy with limited self-control, it’s difficult to curb his impulses.

At age fifteen, Erin just wants to forget. Erin’s world came crashing down when she learned her family was not what they seemed. She’s been living in a lie. No one told her her family was mob. The cliché ignorance is bliss becomes a sharp stabbing realization when she has to learn to cope with the aftermath.

Being smart doesn’t save you from terror and doesn’t teach you how to live with it. You can’t escape the mob. It’s part of your existence!

“Sometimes I hear him whispering in my ear as if my conscience has grown and matured into a six foot three dark haired male. The studying, reading, and listening I did to impress adults are nothing compared to what I learned from Vito.”

~ Erin
